Here is one of the elk steak recipes from our staff.
Elk Steak Recipe
Ingredients
1 and ½ pounds elk steaks
2-3 onions (large) cut in half-rings
4 ounce can of mushrooms, undrained
1 can cream of mushroom soup
1 package frozen broccoli or peas
¼ cup water or sherry
1 and ½ tablespoons oil
dash of salt and pepper (to taste)
prepared rice (to serve 6)
Brown elk in hot oil. Place onion in pan and brown slightly. Add the remaining ingredients, cover and simmer on low for about 1 to 1-1/2 hour, or bake for ½-1 hour at 350°F. Serve over the rice to complete this simply wonderful elk steak recipe.
Excellent recipe……followed the direction with one improvement…I used CAMPBELL’S BEEFY MUSHROOM SOUP NOT the cream of mushroom soup and it was so much better….you must try the CAMPBELL’S BEEFY MUSHROOM SOUP it is too die for…..
I also thin sliced the elk chops to 1/2 inch….not the thick 1 inch chops…and slowly cooked it for 1/2 hour after the browning.
